Ruth McClain has published an article entitled "Want Strategic Readers?Ask Strategic Questions?  Article is published by the Ohio Resource Center in the journal entitled "Adolescent Literacy Monthly."
 

“Preparing Early Childhood Teacher Candidates for Transformational Teaching through Conflict Resolution Education” by Barbara Trube was published in The Ohio Journal of Teacher Education, Volume 19, Number 1. The article synthesizes information from research in conflict resolution education (CRE) and transformative learning. Further, the article presents teacher candidates’ perceptions of transformational teaching strategies in CRE.

Barbara Trube participated as a writing team member with the Ohio Professional Development Committee from February through July 2006. The committee’s work is supported by Build Ohio and is charged to write the “Core Knowledge and Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals (Birth to Grade Three) in Ohio.”  The core knowledge and competencies provide a road map for curriculum development and the organization of professional development activities in Ohio. The writing team met in Columbus monthly with facilitators from Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Job, Family Services and Ohio’s Child Care Network.

Diane Tomlin, Early Language and Literacy Specialist, presented a poster session on Language and Literacy Environments at the annual meeting of Ohio’s Reading First Initiative in Columbus. Ohio University Chillicothe is one of ten universities throughout Ohio that participates in the early literacy initiative. Ms. Tomlin provides professional development to early childhood educators in eight counties in Southern Ohio. Barbara Trube, faculty advisor, and Dean Bebee attended. The workshop was supported by the Ohio Board of Regents and the Office of Early Childhood and School Readiness.
