Assessments:
Need help identifying your interests,
abilities, and/or values? The following is a list available through
career services and online:
·Self-Directed Search: This simple to use, comprehensive
“paper and pencil” assessment developed by Dr. John Holland is based
on the premise that there are 6 types of personalities and most
people are a combination of three. It generates career suggestions
based on personality combination.
·Focus Test: This online tool expands on the
Self-Directed Search and provides assessments in five areas (work
interest, personality, skills, values, and leisure interest). Each
assessment generates its own career suggestions. When completed you
can combine two assessments (i.e. work interest + skills) for an
additional list of career suggestions. From there you can research
majors at Ohio University which would be beneficial for these
careers.
